Kachin

Location
Kachin State is situated in the northern part
of Myanmar. It shares borders with the People's Republic of China
in the north and east, with Shan State and Sagaing Division in
the east, and with Sagaing Division and India in the west. The
area of the state is 34,379 miles.
Population
The population of Kachin State is over 1.2 million,
and the population density is 34 persons per square mile in the
sparsely populated hills and mountains. In the more densely populated
plains the population density is about 100 persons per square mile.
Inhabitants
The inhabitants are racial groups such as Kachin,
Bamar, Shan, Chin, and Naga.
Religion
The major religions in
the state are Buddhism and Christianity, which share 57.8% and 36.4%
of followers respectively. There are also Hindus, Muslims and followers
of other faiths.
Dialects
The majority of the people speak Myanmar, while
racial dialects such as Jimphaw, Rawan, Lisu, and Lacheik are also
spoken.
How to get there?
Myitkyina is the largest town in Kachin State.
There are regular flights from Yangon and Mandalay to Myitkyina.
Putao is the northernmost town in Myanmar and is surrounded by
snow capped mountains and spectacular wilderness.
